The Fan...

Here's a little story about our fan...

The fan in the bedroom didn't work well enough to cool our bedroom into what Carey hoped would feel like a meat locker so we headed out to buy a new one. We found one we both really liked at Lowe's and headed home to install it ourselves (well, Carey installing it while I read the directions). The fee to have Lowe's install it was $70 and that was just outrageous since Carey felt that he should be able to do it easily. This was the beginning of a very long and tedious two hours!!! In our defense, the directions were horrific! They were written as though we were electricians and understood all these crazy terms! Poor Carey fought with this crazy fan until the fan almost didn't make it! There were problems with the size of the screws, then the screws in the box were already stripped, we didn't understand (and still don't) a part that the instructions kept referring to, we had a wire left over after connecting all the wires we had, the wires are different from the ones Carey has dealt with in Missouri, we had to deal with the remote control transmitter and signal and make sure they were on the right channels, shove all the wires into a one inch area, and still had leftover parts when it was finally put together.

Now came the test, turn it on baby....waiting....waiting....and still waiting....no fan and no light! OH NO!!!! It's time to call someone...

So, I called Lowe's. $70 was now worth my husband's sanity and well worth it at that!!! After waiting on hold for who knows how long and then talking to someone who really didn't know much of anything, I finally figured out that someone MIGHT call me by Friday and they MIGHT install the fan on Friday but then again, it MIGHT be next week before they call and it MIGHT be next week before they can get to us but on the other hand it MIGHT be sooner! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? HAVE YOU MET MY HUSBAND? His personal thermostat is already on overdrive and now with no fan???? Click...I finally just hung up! Now my sanity was hanging in the balance...

At lunch earlier, we were eating with Brando, Tommye and Cindy. Cindy had mentioned that if we needed someone to help that her husband Fred was an electrician by trade. Little did we know how important those words would soon be!!! I called Cindy and within a few hours, the wonderful Young's came to the rescue!!!!

About thirty minutes after they arrived, we were all sitting in the bedroom just watching the fan go round and round and loving the cool air!!!! Cindy and Fred stayed for a little while just chatting and looking at pics. Carey and Fred had fun talking hunting and Nascar...C was in heaven talking about that!!! We really enjoyed their company! Thanks so much Cindy and Fred! We really appreciate it more than you know!!!! MUAH!!!!

God Bless You!

P.S. Remember the house fiasco with the water??? Well, the toilet started bubbling again last night as soon as we laid down to go to sleep! The tub and the shower filled with water and other dirty stuff too! Carey had to get up and use the plunger on the outside pipe and everything started working again. Please say a prayer that our sewer system stays unclogged and draining well! Thanks!

I love those arches above your bed!!

yeah for friends....nice to be able to stay cool. I can't stand to be hot!

Mike is pretty handy. In the two months we were here before he deployed, he put Gila window tint on all the wondows of the house, painted pretty much the entire house, hung wood blinds on all the windows, sealed the floors, did some spray thing to the fence, put together the monster play structure in the backyard, networked my laptop, and hung all the stuff I wanted up!
